Meet Eryan Haddon

A message from Team MacRae candidate Eryan Haddon:

I'm Eryan Haddon, and I’m running for Mount Isa Council because I want to see

our local economy revitalized, and our community become a more affordable, safe, and attractive place to live. As an accountant and business owner, I’d like to bring my financial experience to help Council achieve better outcomes for ratepayers.

For the past 25 years, Mount Isa has been more than just my home, it has given me enduring community friendships and an unwavering support system.

This town is renowned for its warmth and togetherness, it's the people that make it great. Whether rallying in challenging times or celebrating successes, the spirit of this community has shaped my life, and I'm particularly grateful that my two daughters have grown up immersed in this rich community tapestry.

My decision to run for council is rooted in a profound desire to give back to the community that has given so much to me and my family. Now, more than ever, it's crucial to return to our foundations and prioritise the people who call this place home. Team MacRae shares a collective focus on revitalizing the local economy, enhancing town aesthetics and lifestyle, and returning our community to an affordable, safe and attractive place to reside. We are a cohesive team, willing to work together with every facet of the local community to bring about tangible and positive outcomes.

I am the co-owner of Trekk Advisory (previously Wardle & Associates), a reputable accounting firm with a 30+ year legacy in Mount Isa. I am a qualified Chartered Accountant with a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Queensland and I have always worked in public practice. Managing budgets and forecasts is a daily practice for me, ensuring that projects are viable, and businesses remain financially sound. This financial acumen is a skill set that I am happy to be able to contribute to Team MacRae.

In my daily interactions, I engage with business owners and community members. I’m in the trenches so to speak and this is good place to be if you want to truly understand the root issues that people face to keep their doors open and the lights on. This understanding is fundamental to our team’s vision of forward progress and positive change.

Beyond my professional commitments, I am actively involved in Mount Isa Touch, playing, coaching juniors, and contributing to the committee. As a proud Wanderers softballer in the past and a recent golf enthusiast, I cherish the camaraderie of local sport, both on the field and in the Club House. This philosophy of community and sports involvement extends to my business, which proudly sponsors local sports, community events, fundraisers, and our cherished local Rodeo. Giving back to fortify our community and provide opportunities is a principal shared in spades within Team MacRae.

Additionally, my engagement with local Women in Business Networking and Support groups is also important to me. Making meaningful connections and learning from each other is key to forward progress.

I am thrilled to be a part of Team MacRae—a motivated, united, and passionate team dedicated to building a better future for Mount Isa by growing the local economy and making our community affordable, safe, and liveable for local families.

I am eager for the opportunity to contribute to our shared vision and work together with you to ensure a thriving and vibrant community.
